Garland Family

There’s something deeply grounding about photographing a family surrounded by nature, no distractions, just wide open space, sunlight slipping through the trees and the kind of connection you can feel.

This session was one of those sessions that made me pause, not just as a photographer, but as a mom.

The way they gathered close on that old tree stump, the way laughter came so easily, and the way each sibling had their own beautiful spark, it all reminded me why I do what I do.

These aren’t just family portraits. These are heirlooms.
Moments frozen in time that say, “We were here and we loved each other deeply.”

Whether it’s silly faces, squished-up yummy cheeks, those quiet in-between seconds when a child looks up at their parent with admiration, it’s those little things that tell the real story. And I’m thankful to photograph it!

I’ve known this couple for at least a decade so photographing them fills my heart. Seeing them grow over the years into this family they’ve created is such a beautiful testament to marriage and the family. I love how they are both a steady rock for each other and their family.

This families bond truly fills my heart to photograph. Not just posed smiles, but genuine connection here at their session. You can see it in the smirks, the hugs, the way mom smiles with her whole face, and how dad’s steady presence anchored the whole crew. These are the moments I live to document. The ones that happen just after the “cheese,” when everyone forgets there’s a camera and we just laugh and ‘hang out’ together.

At Brandi Richardson Photography, I don’t just capture what you look like, I capture what love feels like.

If you’ve been thinking about a family session, let this be your sign. Don’t wait for the perfect time, the perfect outfits, or when life “slows down.” This season you’re in, it matters. Let’s bottle it up together!
